A day in the life of Mashrek Academy of Music
The atmosphere is relaxed with just the right mix of informal learning with concentration from our hard working students.
What we offer
Our curriculum concentrates on individual music tuition along with core musicianship skills, music theory and ensemble work in a chamber music and choir setting.
We accept students from the age of 5 with or without prior musical experience. All students are required to take a prepared generic Music Aural test called the Selmer Aptitude Test. The test indicates a student’s ability to differentiate between Pitch, Harmony, Melody and Rhythm in a segment of music. All information is collated, and students are advised on the instrument that would suit them best.
“Mashrek Academy’s head of music Hind Sabanegh is an expert at matching students to instruments and she is there to encourage and support students as they grow their love of music.”
Pitch, Harmony, Melody and Rhythm
Learning the violin, piano or drums requires understand rhythm. We teach our students a foundation in understanding how to count in music and how to play in ensemble with others.
Starting with being able to count beats to a bar, our students soon learn variations in rhythm and how to count rests in different time signatures.
Lessons are a fun mix of written and practical theory using instruments as often as possible, bringing practice to life.
